August Cancer discussion – Appendix, Lung and blood cancer
• Appendix cancer develops when healthy cells in your appendix mutate and grow out of control, forming a tumor. Healthcare providers usually find tumors during surgery for appendicitis or during an imaging test for an unrelated condition. Smaller tumors are less likely to spread, while larger tumors usually require aggressive treatment
· Lung cancer is one of the most common cancers. It’s caused by abnormal (not normal) cells that grow in the respiratory (breathing) system. This includes your lungs and other parts that help you breathe. Anyone can get lung cancer, but we know there are some things that raise your chances. People who have smoked have the highest risk for getting lung cancer. Research shows that women who have smoked may be more likely to get lung cancer than men who have smoked.
· Blood Cancer – Several kinds of cancer attack the cells that make up your blood. Their symptoms usually come on slowly, so you might not even notice them. And some people have no symptoms at all but there are a few things to look for with the most common kinds of blood cancer. Leukemia, Anemia, Poor clotting
Other symptoms: Because white blood cells don’t fight infection well, you’ll get sick more often and take longer to get over it. You may get a lot of fevers and have night sweats.
• Cancer cells can build up in your lymph nodes, tonsils, liver, and spleen and cause them to swell.
• You may feel lumps in your neck or armpit, or you may feel full after only eating a small amount.
• You may lose a lot of weight without trying.
• The growth of cancer cells in your bone marrow sometimes causes bone pain.
On August 15th, our nation reverberates with the Indian Patriotic Songs over the loudspeakers.
We celebrated Independence Day starting with a quiz on the history of independence. Indian Patriotic songs fill us with the joy that comes with the celebration of this ancient and sacred land. It connects with a sense of shared belongingness. They also bring out the responsibilities that we have towards the countries as its children or citizens.
Everyone enjoyed beautiful patriotic songs by Shalini, Bandna, Indian National Anthem by Subhas Dureja ji and everyone in attendance because we enjoy and cherish, the Indians who fought for the independence of the nation, be it the respected public personalities or the admired armed forces personnel who laid down their lives for the future of this great nation. These songs remind us of our golden past, our rich heritage, and the supreme sacrifices made by our ancestors. The best ones are at the end and scroll down to the last one.
Thank you, Neena Belani for Mirch pakora, Sharma family for poha, Bandana for Tea and snacks and Sadhna ji for rolls. Thanks to Sudhir ji drinks.
