The session started with welcome remarks for everyone joining us. We started the session on the informative information on the Snow storm over the weekend.
Discussion on Discussion on Cancer of February: Common symptoms of both cancers include abdominal pain, jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes), nausea, vomiting, and unexplained weight loss. These symptoms can often be mistaken for less serious conditions, leading to delayed diagnosis. Early detection is critical for improving survival rates.
Special thanks to volunteers’ team for delivering Fruits/Snacks to under privileged families and session was started with exercise specifically for Heart and back bone, Mr. Kulbhushan shared few beneficial exercises.
Shashi Malik shared information on sewing project of Tote bags.
Group discussion was “Valentine Day” as why respect, caring, kindness and love is important in life. Special discussion was on Food & Exercises for Heart.
Food Good for Heart: Leafy Green Vegetables, Whole Grains, Fatty Fish, Nuts and Seeds, Berries, Olive Oil, Beans, and Dark Chocolate. Aerobic Exercises- Brisk Walking, Cycling, Swimming, and Dancing.
Dr. Abha Bhatnagar engaged everyone on how everyone celebrated the valentine day and quiz followed by songs and special poetry for loving hearts.

Announcement – Shashi malik shared that SEVA will be organizing prostate cancer screening on February 22nd in gurdwara and Breast cancer screening is on October 3rd, 2026 from 9 to 1pm and will be participating on May 16th, in Brooklyn Health-fair.

Food Good for Heart; Key Heart-Healthy Foods

- Dark Chocolate: In moderation, dark chocolate can be heart-healthy due to its high levels of antioxidants. It may help improve blood flow and lower blood pressure.
